Hendre Road Petition

This petition is to support the widening of Hendre Road, Pencoed.

We the undersigned call on Bridgend County Borough Council to include the widening of Hendre Road in their bid for major capital transport investment to improve multi-modal accessibility within and through Pencoed relating to the Pencoed Level Crossing and Penprysg Road Bridge project.

We have been needing this for many years but they made laybys instead for parking, traffic has increased 100 fold since then, we need to road widened, there’s plenty of room but it’s always been down to cost, do the right thing now.

Widening the road or even taking a small part of the grass area opposite to provide pull in parking for the houses there would reduce the congestion levels greatly in that area, the waiting and often impatience people who force through plus those who don’t offer to let others the other way just largely decrease the traffic flow. To avoid it I often cut through Woodlands Avenue to get home but even that is heavily populated with cars both sides of the road which means passing is sometimes difficult especially if an evening or when the recycle trucks are parked in the middle of the road.

Accident waiting to happen if something isn’t done especially with the changes coming.

I’ve lived here 6 months my car has been hit and seen lots of cars down the banking or been hit

I am fed up of the traffic congestion and nearly misses in this part of the road.

Hendre Road is a hazard as there are parked cars along one side leaving it impossible for 2 cars to pass through. It causes congestion and many cars to be forced off the road and onto the green area
